About Us at Little Creek Nursery
At Little Creek we are conscience of our environment. We utilize the latest
technology in drip irrigation for our field growing operation along with an
aggressive soil conservation program. All of our fields are planted with grass
water ways and in the fall we plant crimson clover as a cover crop. In our
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program we scout for problem insects and spray
accordingly. Last year we built a new pesticide containment facility. This
facility is utilized to store all chemicals and to capture pesticide spills
that may occur in the filling and mixing process. In our container production
we capture and reuse our runoff water. For these efforts we were awarded the
2002 Tennessee Association of Conservation Districts Middle Tennessee Division
winner and the 2002 Tennessee Association of Conservation Districts State winner.
History of Little Creek Nursery
David Womack started Little Creek Nursery in 1976 growing Dogwood seedlings.
In 1979 David needed a partner and traded Bill Womack ½ interest in
Little Creek for a ton truck and enough money to bud his Dogwood seedlings
that year. Throughout the years the nursery grew from 10 acres to 200 acres
in production. In 1995 Bill reached retirement age and sold his interest in
Little Creek back to David. In 1996 David took on a new partner when he married
Nancy. From there Little Creek has grown to over 350 acres in nursery production,
with an additional 650 acres in cattle and hay production. In the fall of 2000
Jerry Blankenship joined our staff as General Manager. Since then we have expanded
our mix of plants to include specialty containers and new field varieties to
better serve our customers plant needs.
